Profile: Alpha

Alpha (Eclipse Sportswire)
When Alpha finds his comfort zone, the athlete comes out, but his patterns and rhythm of motion are dependent upon him having comfort in space.
He’s a way-above-average horse, but he doesn’t have the highest-level herd dynamic. He doesn’t move other horses with his presence, and he can lose confidence in tight spots. In the Wood Memorial, Alpha had momentum on Gemologist, but once he got into Gemologist’s space, that was the end of it. Alpha deferred.
If he gets a clear run, Alpha can turn it on, but he’ll need a smooth, non-combative trip to get the most out of his chances.
