Waiting for “Mo”
A lot of fans don’t know about the tempestuous relationship between Derby contender Uncle Mo and his stablemate, Awesome Maria. Trainer Todd Pletcher has had his hands full playing marriage counselor for these two. John Scheinman and Jenny Kellner, of the New York Racing Association, went out to Aqueduct early one morning a couple weeks ago and found out the hard way about the information lockdown on this story. Where is TMZ when you really need them?
John Scheinman, a long-time writer and editor, covered thoroughbred racing for The Washington Post from 2000-09. He won the Red Smith Kentucky Derby writing contest for best advance in 2007.
